1999 Updates
Seasons Greetings!
With the busy holiday season, its always hard to find time to get everything done. Over the last three seasons, we have been racing until October and sometimes November, so it makes the holiday season come up that much faster.
In 1999, the Potter Motorsports team competed at several different tracks, primarily asphalt, but also on dirt. Tracy drove the dirt semi-late model for car owner Dick DeLisle of Clearfield, PA. He competed in about ten dirt events at Dog Hollow Speedway in Strongstown, PA, and Marion Center Speedway near Punxsutawney, PA. In 1999, Tracy also competed at three different asphalt tracks utilizing the Potter Motorsports car and a car owned by Harry White of Concord, NC. We decided to try our luck in the highly competitive Jennerstown and Motordrome NASCAR limited late model circuit. We attended three events at Motordrome Speedway in Smithton, PA. Our team had a hard time adapting to this track, as we had never seen the facility before and have limited experience with restricted engines. All the races we attended at Motordrome had over 35 competitors vying for starting positions.
Motordrome Results:
We have not regularly competed at Clearfield Mountain Speedway for a couple years, but we participated in three events in 99 with some success. We used two different cars at CMS in 99. In the Yankee Doodle 100, it was the Harry White racer, and for the second Iceman Supercar Series event and the Labor Day special, the Potter Motorsports racer was used.
Clearfield Mountain Speedway Results:
After finishing the 50 lap Labor Day special at CMS, we loaded up the hauler and headed for the 200 lap Iceman Supercar Series finale in Toledo, OH, at the high-banked Toledo Speedway. This event provided a real challenge for Potter Motorsports and for Tracy. We had never competed at this facility before. In fact, no one on the team, including Tracy, had ever even seen this track before the day of the race, and we had never competed in an event over 150 laps. This didnt stop Tracy though. He brought home a fifth place finish out of a competitive field of 24 cars.
